Enzo Dal Verme is an Italian photographer with over 15 years of experience in portraiture, fashion and photojournalism. He has travelled the globe extensively in search of stimulating stories and interesting people to photograph and interview.

His work has been published in Vanity Fair, l’Uomo Vogue, The Times, Marie Claire, l’Espresso, Madame Figarò, Elle, Glamour and many other magazines.

His book Storytelling for Photojournalists: Techniques for Reportage and Documentary Photography started as a pdf book targeted to photography students seeking advice. The book turned out to be a success, and mainly among professional photographers, hence the expanded and enriched print edition (May 2016).

Enzo gives inspirational talks to a wide range of audiences. He has taught communication in fashion and business schools and developed a playful and interactive style in his lectures, enriched with captivating examples, entertaining stories and interesting anecdotes. In his talk “Desperate Creativity” – focusing on how to turn minuses into pluses – he gives entertaining examples on how he managed to get through rejections and failures, especially since an ailing economy and the rise of the internet caused the decline of traditional media, forcing photographers out of their comfort zone. What is success after all? Money? Recognition? Or the freedom to do what you what you like to do when you want to do it? Or, perhaps, expressing your very own potential?

And what is innovation? It is sometimes mistaken for “re-styling”, but that’s not enough to survive in a fast-changing environment. Adapting to change requires much more than wrapping up old content in an improved and polished gift wrap.He also teaches workshops designed to help participants enhance their ability to interact with their subjects. It’s an intense, exiting, fun and sometimes challenging experiential course that focuses on refining the participant’s sensitivity. That’s why he has been invited to teach it even to groups of non-photographers, such as a group of doctors and nurses at the oncological hospital Istituti Ospedalieri in Cremona.Besides his photography, Enzo has been working on several projects he feels passionate about. His latest adventure is the start-up Smart Ethic Lab aimed at redirecting the flow of money from products/services that kill animals, pollute the environment, exploit workers, etc. toward ethical businesses. Smart Ethic Lab engages with investors, entrepreneurs, financial institutions and public administrations. Its first public events are scheduled in November in Barcelona during the Smart City Expo.
